DSL Routers
from: ConsumerEvidence.comA router is hardware that connects two computers to each other. This is what allows us to quickly search the internet or pull up a particular website. A DSL router is specifically designed to offer that ability at a much faster speed than a dial-up connection. DSL stands for digital subscriber line.
A DSL connection has many advantages. As we already mentioned, it is much faster than dial-up. The speed of the connection depends on the distance between the customer and the central location of the server. You don’t ever have to worry about the system being busy and not being able to log in. DSL is not connection to your phone line. Therefore you can still get and make phone calls while using your internet. DSL offers the company who offers it advantages as well. Since it doesn’t require phone lines engineers can easily access and test equipment to configure and retrieve data.
DSL routers offer a more secure connection that a dial up connection. This is because DSL is not a shared network as dial up is. It is a dedicated private network from the user to the network. While security can be compromised in any type of internet connection, under normal circumstances a DSL router is very secure.
DSL routers offer some advantages over broadband as well. You can connect as many as three computers through a single connection. You can network up to twenty more computers. This advantage has helped small businesses tremendously and at a very reasonable cost.
There are many internet and router options available out there. If you aren’t very knowledgeable in the area, the internet offers some valuable resources to determine what options might benefit you based on your computer needs and uses. You can also get this type of information from a computer consultant in your area.
Technology continues to grow and develop new ideas for faster internet connections. It will be interesting to see what the future of computer data access brings us. It appears there are many projects in the process that will provide further information and research into the world of computers.
